China says its engaged in a "life and death" battle with supporters of the Dalai Lama over Tibet. Chinese officials also continued to blame the anti-China protests on the Dalai Lama, whom they called a "wolf in monk's robes." As the unrest continued in certain parts of China, the Dalai Lama himself spoke out and said he would step down as Tibet's political leader if the violence gets out of control.
