Business leaders in Germany are becoming increasingly concerned about the economic fallout of Russia's intervention in the south Caucasus. Klaus Mangold, the head of Germany's Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, described the state of relations between Moscow and the West as "alarming". German companies have invested heavily in Russia in recent years. German exports to the region totalled 28 billion euros last year.
