Bundesliga Matchday Nine in pictures
A Dortmund loss, a crazy game in Frankfurt and the sacking of Werder Bremen's coach: this Bundesliga weekend has already presented plenty of surprises. Click here for the best pictures from around Germany this weekend.
Gladbach frustrate Bayern
Mönchengladbach gave the reigning German champs everything they could handle in Sunday's late match. Bayern Munich owned the majority of possession, but the Foals had the greater number of clear chances - mostly on the counter-attack. But the ball just didn't want to go in the net, and the match ended goalless.
Naldo leads Wolfsburg past Mainz
The man of the match in Sunday's early game was Brazilian Naldo. The long and lean defender scored the Wolves 'opener and assisted on their second, both after corner kicks. Wolfsburg ran out easy 3-0 winners and finally looked like the team many critics predicted would crack the top four this season.
Goal festival in Frankfurt
This was to the liking of the neutrals! Nine goals, with both teams taking the lead at different points in the game. Eintracht's former coach Armin Veh walked away with the three points with a late winner from Gentner. Stuttgart seem to love the entertainment after coming back from 3-0 down last weekend.
Bad luck for Borussia
Six games without a win, five defeats, and 15th in the table. Borussia Dortmund have fallen into a bottomless pit. Even such a poor away team like Hannover can look forward to a victory. Roman Weidenfeller didn't look happy at the free-kick, leading to the opening goal, and Jürgen Klopp looks despondent right now.
Freiburg still winless
Freiburg coach Christian Streich is straight to the point: "No rhythm, nervous, poor fitness and no self-confidence in the wings. Augsburg have just won against us because the individual players weren't able to find their best performance." Nothing left to add.
Hoffenheim were in luck...
...that the visitors, SC Paderborn, conceded an early penalty - which Hoffenheim's Sebastian Rudy then proceeded to miss. Then, who knows whether it would have stayed 0-0 had Kevin Volland not stepped up as the MOTM? The striker had waited over 700 minutes for a goal, and he deserved his strike.
Simple job in Berlin
Hertha's group of ex-HSV players all had an excellent day. Anis Ben-Hatira scored two goals in a 3-0 win at home with Johnny Heitinga also breaking his account for the first time in the Bundesliga. The Old Lady's promising start in home matches continues.
The end of Dutt
Lying bottom of the table, Werder Bremen announced the release of Robin Dutt on Saturday afternoon. With only four points to their name this season and a 1-0 home loss against Cologne, it was enough to force the River Islanders into change.
Leverkusen beats the Schalke wall
What a game for Hakan Calhanoglu! Not only was he Leverkusen's creative center throughout, he also scored the crucial lone goal from a free kick. The guests, on the other hand, barely got up the other end of the pitch. Perhaps they were tired from their mid-week Champions League match, but Leverkusen had to play in Europe this week as well.
