Borussia Dortmund 4 - 4 Schalke

An incredible four-goal second-half comeback snatched a point for Schalke and heaped more pressure on Peter Bosz in a Revierderby that regularly defied belief. Naldo's injury-time header made it four in 33 second-half minutes for the Royal Blues after Dortmund looked to have the game sewn up following a blistering 13-minute spell of their own that saw them go into the interval 4-0 up.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got things started when he bundled in at the back post, though replays showed it struck his hand, then Benjamin Stambouli sliced a volley into his own net. Two minutes later it was three when Mario Götze ended a fine counter-attcking move by nodding in an Aubameyang cross and then Raphaël Guerreiro volleyed home a loose ball from wide in the box as Dortmund went into the break with the gloom of the last couple of months seemingly lifted.

Guido Burgstaller scored what the traveling fans must have thought was a consolation when he looped a header over Roman Weidenfeller just after the hour mark. Even when Amine Harit fired in at the back post four minutes later, Schalke's task looked enormous. But they had the momentum and soon an extra man too after Aubameyang picked up a second yellow card on 72 minutes. Dortmund managed to stem the tide for a little longer before Daniel Caligiuri forced some space in the area before turning home. Then came the moment, BVB fans were dreading as Naldo rose above his marker to power home the equalizer before both sets of players became embroiled in a mass brawl after the final whistle. However, cooler heads quickly prevailed. 

Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 - 1 Bayern Munich

Two goals in five first half minutes saw Bayern Munich fall to a first loss since Jupp Heynckes re-took the reigns. First Thorgan Hazard slammed home a penalty after Niklas Süle was adjudged to have handled, then Matthias Ginter knocked in at the back post after some neat play from Lars Stindl.

Bayern were knocking at the door all game but, despite a low drive from Arturo Vidal that fizzed in to the hosts' net with fifteen minutes remaining, they couldn't find an equalizer.

 

RB Leipzig 2 -0 Werder Bremen

Naby Keita's second goal in as many games gave the hosts a lead their early play deserved. The Guinean midfielder capitalized when a ball bounced kindly to him off Thomas Delaney to finish neatly. The Red Bulls didn't always look enitrely comfortable with their slender lead but Bernardo bounced one in from the edge of the box to move them back up to second.

Augsburg 2 – 1 Wolfsburg

The game started in the worst possible fashion for the Wolves as Maxi Arnold saw red after tripping Alfred Finnbogason as he bore down on goal after just 11 minutes. But Augsburg were also prepared to gve their opponents a helping hand - goalkeeper Marwin Hitz making a mess of a speculative Daniel Didavi effort from long range.

Augsburg made the extra man count after the break when  Michael Gregoritsch turned in his sixth league goal of the season after good work from Finnbogason before the creator turned scorer as the Icelandic striker fired in the winner to complete the turnaround.

Eintracht Frankfurt 0 – 1 Bayer Leverkusen

Kevin Volland settled a tense and attritional affair with a moment of quality. The former Hoffenheim frontman found a rare pocket of space in the area and took down a left-wing cross with his chest before settling the game with a composed finish that lifts Leverkusen in to European contention.

Freiburg 2 – 1 Mainz
(Petersen 51', Kath 90+1 - Berggreen 90+2)

After a first half that showed why both these sides are in the bottom half, the deadlock was broken in the second period after Danny Latza's sloppy back pass was intercepted by Nils Petersen, who rounded the keeper to tuck home. Jean-Philippe Gbamin hit the crossbar with an audacious effort from near the halfway line late in the game before Florian Kath doubled the lead late. There was still time for Emil Berggreen to grab a goal for the visitors but Freiburg held on to move out of the relegation zone, for a day at least. 

Hannover 1-1 Stuttgart
(Füllkrüg pen 76' - Asano 24')

The Bundesliga's two promoted sides met in Hannover on Friday night and, after Martin Harnik missed a golden early chance to put the hosts ahead, it was Stuttgart who took the lead midway through an entertaining first half.

Hannover goalkeeper Philipp Tschauner parried a weak Christian Genter shot into the path of Takuma Asano who scored his first Bundesliga goal to put Stuttgart ahead away from home for the first time this season.

Hannover rallied in the second half and drew level thanks to a Niclas Füllkrüg penalty before Salif Sané almost scored a winner which would have sent them fourth overnight, but his shot on the turn clipped the outside of the post.

Hamburg 3-0 Hoffenheim

Hamburg picked up their second win in three Bundesliga games with a convincing win over a disappointing Hoffenheim.

Teenage talent Jann-Fiete Arp played a key role in the opener, pressuring Kevin Akpoguma to turn the ball into his own net and giving Hamburg a half-time lead.

Hoffenheim lacked a cutting edge in attack and the closest they came to leveling was when Nico Schulz flashed a low cross across the Hamburg goal and centimeters wide of the far post.

Hamburg survived and grabbed a second through Filip Kostic, who lashed a powerful free-kick past Oliver Baumann while he was still lining up his wall.

Gideon Jung wput the result beyond any doubt with two minutes to play, poking in from close range. Hoffenheim have only one win in their last eight games and host second-placed RB Leipzig next weekend. 

 

Cologne 0-2 Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin captain Vedad Ibisevic sored a goal in each half to pile more misery on winless Cologne.

Ibisevic pounced from close-range to give Hertha the lead before the break and struck again in the second half, guiding his penalty into the bottom corner after Davie Selke was tripped by Cologne captain Matthias Lehmann.

The result sees Hertha climb to 11th, with Cologne languishing six points behind 17th placed Werder Bremen and still — over three months into the season — without a league win.
