Diego signs for Wolfsburg
August 27, 2010German club Wolfsburg completed the signing of Brazilian Diego in a deal worth 15.5 million euros ($20 million).
The 25-year-old Diego could make his debut against Mainz on Saturday after signing his four year contract with English coach Steve McClaren's side on Thursday evening, following a medical at the football club.
The deal was formally announced by Juventus on Friday morning. Wolfsburg was due to hold a full press conference on Friday afternoon for the player, whose agreed salary is believed to be in the region of six million euros.
Struggle to impress
Diego had been looking for a move from Juventus, where he struggled to impress following his 25-million-euro move from Werder Bremen a year ago.
"His return is a big gain in terms of quality for the Bundesliga," said Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf.
Negotiations have been taking place over the past few weeks and were thought to have broken down until recent days.
From 2006 to 2009, Diego scored 38 goals in 84 league games for Bremen, while at Juventus he scored just five goals in 33 games. The player has 28 caps for his country but wasn't part of the Brazilian squad at this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
