This monument boasts 200 years of history. Built by King Frederick William II, it offers a distinguished ending to the famous boulevard Unter den Linden.
The Quadriga, a chariot drawn by four horses was added in 1793, two years after the Brandenburg Gate was completed. It was dismantled three times over the course of time: For example, Napoleon sent it to Paris after the defeat of Prussia in 1806. It was returned eight years later.
The gate survived the Second World War, the division of Berlin and is now a symbol of reunified Germany.
