Unknown perpetrators threw a Molotov cocktail at a mosque near Heidelberg in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to police. A glass bottle filled with flammable liquid was tossed against the Sinsheim mosque's entryway around 12:30 a.m. A neighbor discovered and extinguished the fire, which caused around €10,000 ($13,000) in damages to the wooden door and the glass window above it. A spokesman for the Heidelberg police said the motive remained unclear but that there was no indication the attack was linked to the violence that has recently plagued neighboring Holland. There, the recent murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a suspected Islamic fundamentalist led to a series of attacks on Muslim and Christian facilities.
