German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she's confident that the European Union will reach a compromise on implementing the Lisbon reform treaty despite its rejection by Irish voters. And she's also optimistic about a diplomatic solution for Iran. Those were among the points addressed in the chancellor's summer news conference - during which she also underlined the stregth of the German economy.
