In South Africa more than 1.9 million children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Most of the time, grandparents are forced to provide the care - and explain where mom and dad went.

AIDS orphans: when granny has to replace mommy

Reducing the cases of mother to child HIV transmission is part of the advancement in the global fight against AIDS. Yet, especially in less developed regions, this means for many children to loose their parents at an often very young age.
