A new political era - Yukio Hatoyama takes over as Japan's new prime minister

We start with Japan - where Prime Minister Yukio Hato-yama has taken office.. after a landmark election earlier this month swept his Democratic Party to power. Observers saw that victory as the dawn of a new political era in Japan - ending nearly 50 years of rule by the Liberal Democratic Party. Hatoyama has pledged to steer the country through the economic downturn. He takes over from defeated prime minister Taro Aso.
