Lootings and kidnappings along Georgia's de facto border with separatist South Ossetia are stopping more than 20,000 people from returning home, according to the human rights group Amnesty International. It says that troops on both sides not only failed to protect civilians but even singled them out for attack. Representatives from Russia and Georgia are holding talks on the future of Abkhazia and South Ossetia this week in Geneva. But what will it take for people in the region to be able to live together again? We sent our correspondent from Russia across South Ossetia to Skinvali and from there to Gori und Georgia's capital Tiblisi. She found out that even a short conflict can leave deep and lasting scars.
